BIOREM’s business culture originates from its longstanding fruitful collaboration with some of the Nation’s most brilliant and respected microbiologists, environmentalists, ecologists, conservationists, naturalists, businesspeople, engineers, as well as some of the most socially responsible environmental companies from the United States and other countries.
One of our oldest partners is Alpha Omega Bioremediation, a successor to Lambda Bioremediation Systems, Inc. (LBSI) whose expertise in the field of bioremediation is still unmatched. During its 40-year history, Alpha Omega/LBSI completed thousands of projects in 37 of the 50 U.S. states, and in Canada, having cleaned lakes, rivers, seaports, coal mines, paper mills, military bases, industrial sites, pipelines, oil refineries, etc.
Their methodology is based on using only natural ecosystemic mechanisms to clean contaminated environments. No genetically engineered or genetically modified microorganisms have ever been or will ever be used. This fundamental principle has become Biorem’s own, and everything we do starts from it.
Biorem products remediate not only the contaminants of concern but also the derivative products generated during the attempted destruction of contaminants by chemical means. In the final result, there are no negative residual effects or unwanted byproducts created. Thus, the second fundamental principle requires us achieving an ambitious goal of complete restoration of the soil or water to their original state before they were contaminated – like it never even happened.
Sites contaminated with heavy metals, organic solvents, petroleum products or acid mine drainage have been and are being remediated as we speak. There is no “secret magic bullet” to cleaning them. Rather, the Biorem approach relies on harnessing the science of nature and on developing, enhancing and carefully balancing the naturally occurring microbial consortia within the environment, so that the right microbes are in the correct numbers and the correct locations to destroy the contaminants.
This natural systems concept was developed by Jo Davison more than 40 years ago. Today, we continue this approach building on the success of Jo Davison’s work with modern tools and resources, an astounding amount of accumulated data, and lots of experience.
Biorem’s culture formula is simple: NATURE+SCIENCE+PEOPLE+VISION+RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORLD’S FUTURE.
This philosophy allowed us to become a company that uses all of its net profits to fund socially important environmental projects worldwide.
