Biodegradation of Fats, Oil & Grease (FOG) Municipal Waste Water Treatment Plants and Sewer Lines
Biorem Product Elza-4 is a highly effective biological preparation containing a unique blend of selectively bred microbes and enzymatic combinations methodically formulated for the treatment and biodegradation of FOG in municipal waste water treatment plants (WWTP) and sewer lines.
Elza-4 performs excellently in a wide variety of municipal sewage treatment applications related to the problem of FOG buildup. The long chain fatty acids that cause over 80 percent of FOG deposits are hard to remove, while short-chain volatile fatty acids are the cause of the foul smell.
Product Elza-4 degrades long chain fatty acids and the odor caused by short-chain volatile fatty acids efficiently, working in the hydrophobic phase, and growing at low pH levels.

• It lowers foaming on the surface of the aeration basin while increasing the oxygen transfer in the aerator.
• By quickly and robustly de-solidifying and degrading FOG, Elza-4 improves the entire process of the removal of organics

The result is a landfill that continuously reduces its own size, and becomes a replenishable, sustainable operation. The leachate form such a landfill becomes manageable both in terms of volume and in terms of its dramatically reduced toxicity.
